HOME ORGANIZATION IDEAS
Welcome back to Hannah’s Happy Home! This week has been a whirlwind of productivity, from organizing messy spaces to restocking essentials and deep-cleaning overlooked areas of the house. I’m sharing the process of transforming chaos into calm and providing a few tips to help inspire your own cleaning journey.
A New Tool for Tackling Grout and Floors
The Rubbermaid Power Scrubber has officially joined my cleaning arsenal! This nifty gadget, resembling an oversized electric toothbrush, promises to make cleaning grout lines a breeze. I’ll be testing it on the laundry room floor in my next cleaning video, so stay tuned to see it in action.
For now, I’ve been tidying the cleaning closet, clearing out cobwebs and dust bunnies, and going through the foldable storage baskets from Lowe’s (also available on Amazon). It’s amazing what a little reorganization can do to refresh a space!
Laundry Room Cleanup
The laundry room floor was overdue for some attention. After tackling the dirt and dead bugs, I reorganized the mail and key holder by the back door. It’s incredible how quickly those small organizers fill up with random items. After decluttering and restocking essentials like paper towels and garbage bags, this space feels fresh and functional again.
Pantry Revamp: Homemade Granola and Stocking Staples
Restocking the pantry always brings a sense of accomplishment. With empty jars and cereal containers staring back at me, I decided to whip up some homemade granola. It’s a family favorite and a healthier, more budget-friendly alternative to store-bought sugary cereals.
Homemade Granola Tips:
- You can customize it with your favorite nuts, dried fruits, and sweeteners.
- Flatten it midway through baking for the perfect crumble.
I also tried making granola bars, experimenting with a recipe that uses peanut butter and honey. Pro tip: Be sure to press the mixture firmly into the pan to avoid crumbly bars.
The pantry is now fully stocked with staples like sugar, flour, oats, beans, and more. Having everything neatly organized in labeled containers makes meal prep and grocery planning so much easier.
Decluttering and Deep Cleaning the Boys’ Room
Next up was the boys’ bedroom. This space gets a weekly reset, but this time I went all in—washing bedding, organizing toys in Ikea bins, and even deep-cleaning their chair with my trusty Bissell Little Green carpet cleaner.
Using drawer dividers for their clothes has been a game-changer. These simple Amazon finds make it easy to separate school shirts from play clothes, helping the boys stay organized.
Kitchen Chaos to Clean Haven
On July 4th, with fireworks on the evening agenda, I squeezed in a quick kitchen cleanup. In just 20 minutes, the kids and I transformed a messy space into a sparkling kitchen. Coming home to a clean kitchen after a fun night out was such a rewarding feeling.
Fridge Restock and Deep Clean
Restocking the fridge is always a big task, but it’s the perfect opportunity to give it a good clean. I cleared out the shelves, wiped everything down, and reorganized. The fridge is now fully stocked with backyard-fresh eggs, Costco goodies, and homemade snacks like granola bars.
Deep Cleaning Tip:
Use baking soda to clean produce like blueberries and cucumbers. It gently removes residue and leaves your fruits and veggies fresh and ready to eat.
The freezer also got a refresh, with meats on one side and veggies on the other. Keeping a well-organized freezer and fridge saves time and energy during busy weeks.
